This week, I’m putting together some travel talks (there are two this week – one about Hawaii land & cruise, and another with G Adventures/ National Geographic Journeys. See details below). I’ve been talking a lot about soft adventure trips for clients with these talks (and a third talk around the same topic now planned for September with On the Go). So I thought I’d share a little bit about what I mean by soft adventure.
What’s soft adventure? Well, think of adventure trips that do not require you to do special training for, or necessarily experience with the activities the trip will undertake. Soft adventure trips do not require you to have specialized equipment. Soft adventure trips don’t generally encompass risk. Instead, you, as the traveler, are experiencing an adventure that may be a little outside the norm of what you usually do (they are not generally fly ‘n flop beach holidays).
You do have to have some basic level of physical fitness. You do have to be open to movement and learning. But the days on soft adventure holiday are not scheduled to be sunrise-to-sundown full of heavy exertion – there is plenty of relax time built in. The focus, instead, might be on an easy going pace to the sights, and on cultural immersion.

I was thrilled to be invited by Helen Nodland of @Virtuoso to be interviewed on her new podcast. My session dropped this week. There will be a full rollout of the podcast during
Virtuoso week in Vegas. The podcast has restricted audio for Virtuoso advisors only. But I had a blast participating. Thanks, Helen, for asking!
I was thrilled to be interviewed for this global audience, talking about some of the exciting work I'm doing with my clients.
Kinda exciting to be able to get this get of interest in what I do. Unfortunately, it's not a client-facing podcast, and is meant as professional development training for other Virtuoso travel advisors. But it's really neat to see that my work with you is getting worldwide attention!

Cruises I'm Working on this Week

SOLO folks - Learn about a Hawaii Group Departure. I've put together a Honolulu land package with a 7 night cruise around the Hawaiian islands on NCL. NCL is one of the few cruise companies that do not have to return to mainland Canada or USA, and can sail 7 days all in Hawaii.
Join us to learn about a small group departure for solo folks to tour the Hawaiian islands with Globus, with a 3 day land tour in Oahu and 7 night island cruise. Solo rooms and double occupancy share (maybe meet someone to share) are available.

And - we'll look at planning some small group trips (for couples and/or friends sharing a room; as well as solo travelers on both a roommate/ share program, as well as a low solo
supplement offer on most itineraries.).

Sheila presents soft adventure tours for solo & other travelers. Special guest, Mike Quinto of On the Go Tours, will join the presentation to share updates on their tours, particularly those of interest to solo travelers. (However, all are welcome.)
In addition to the overview of On the Go trips, a special solo group departure from Ottawa to Egypt will be presented, and perhaps a second or third group too. Perhaps Turkey? India? Sheila and Mike have partnered for soft adventure trips previously to Vietnam & Cambodia, Morocco, and Iceland. (Miss them? We might return, or focus on new spots only).
