This week, I attended Virtuoso's "Ready, Reset, Go".
For four days, I attended our virtual travel trade webinar. I met with travel partners from around the world.
We're ready for a "Conscious Comeback."
We're ready to go. But we want travel to be better than ever. We want to make sure that we are making the world better by our travel. We've had a year of no travel - so yes, revenge travel will be big (as last week's newsletter talked about - we want to get back at the virus, so we are living our best travel life going forward), but we also want to make sure the world is continuing to prove because we are deciding to return to travel.
Virtuoso did a survey and noted that 82% of travelers say that the pandemic has made them want to travel more responsibly in the future.
How cool is that?
And how fitting is it that my grade 9 daughter had to do a project about sustainability in the world, and she chose sustainable tourism.
Reminded me of this profile I was honoured to have had done on me by Virtuoso a little while ago.

Travel Trivia
I had a fun Travel Trivia session with some clients last Tuesday. We play a trivia game on kahoot. I'd created 100 questions, and you can compete against other players to get best score.
I think Daphne was leading the whole game until she had to drop off. And then Laura came through strong and finished first.
We had a lot of fun.

Sheila was joined by Windstar Cruises for Travel Tuesday - April 13th.
Did you catch it? Andrea Mendelsohn of Windstar Cruises joined Sheila to share all about Windstar's offerings. They are 180 degrees from ordinary - and - they take small ship cruising In a different direction - wind/ sailing ships, and star/ yacht ships. I attended #virtuosotravel #ReadyResetGo with @virtuosoltd this week, and @dynamicjill is encouraging travel advisors like me to share some travel memories.
My thoughts go to the Galápagos this morning, especially as friends like @lindbladexp are returning in June. I’m wishing I was back with the turtles again this morning.

We are going up and up! Yay. Now doing over 320,000 vaccines a day. Little by little, we go....
We were at 9,706,273 doses administered last week. So this week is climbing ever higher.
Fantastic to be at 24.21% on Friday considering we were only 11..86% on April 2nd.
COVID-19 vaccination coverage across Canada by demographics and key populations. We update this information every Friday at 12:00 PM Eastern Time with data up to and including the previous Saturday.
And my brother Brad pointed out that if you read CTV news and their tracking (from Stats Canada), they update more frequently that Canada Public Health updates . If you see CTV News - Coronavirus vaccination tracker: How many people in Canada have received shots? , we are actually at 28.43% vaccinated for the first dose.

Update on Fires in Cape Down - Nature Will Rise
During Virtuoso Ready Reset Go, our virtual travel trade webinar this week, I met with travel partners from around the world.
I had a great chat with Shaun Strydom of andBeyond Travel in South Africa. As we talked about the terrible fire on Table Mountain (see article in travel news section), and the heartbreaking damage and destruction in Cape Town;
Shaun shared with me one small mercy. Table Mountain is covered in fynbos, and its seeds are activated by fire. The coming June/ July winter rainfall will help the seeds take root and grow. In a year, nature will be able to regenerate itself. Table Mountain will rise, like the phoenix, from the ashes. Nature finds a way to survive. Travel will too. And #EarthDay2021 is the perfect time to remember.
