The France government has a new requirement for European citizens to go to restaurants and cafes.
Canadians and Americans can still enter with their proof of vaccine and their passport.
Or - you can now apply for a pass sanitaire as a non-European too.
If you wanted to apply, here's advice from a hotel I was working with this week in Paris.
Concerning the vaccination or pass sanitaire in France, kindly note the following information from my Paris hotel a client is visiting:

Kindly know that current legislation states that proof of vaccination is enough to have access to restricted places.
Now if your valued clients want to get the French Health Pass (with the QR code that they can either show paper or download once received on TousAntiCovid app) to make sure they won’t have any issue during their stay, we will be pleased to direct them to a close-by pharmacy (10mn walking distance) which delivers them. They will need to show:
• Their passport
• Their proof of vaccination – accepted vaccines are Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen, AstraZeneca
• A French address – the hotel one
This is a smooth and quick process – free of charge – that needs to be done in person with original copies of the document.

Sheila will create another game to play on kahoot, so you'll need to either watch two windows on your laptop/ pc, or use two devices - one to see the questions asked with multiple choice answers given (or true or false), the other to enter your answer.
Kahoot games (once struck) will give you a pin to enter and play. That's entered on the second screen/ device to track your answers.

I’m just back off the plane from spending two weeks in Newfoundland. As a travel advisor, it was my first time back onboard a plane since February 2020. And I escaped to Newfoundland as soon as it opened to fully vaccinated Canadians on July 2nd (after my youngest daughter’s 2nd vaccine).
We had a wonderful trip, and a fantastic family reunion. And it gave me confidence to help you.
I wanted to share with you my experience on getting back onboard a plane, and hopefully address any concerns you might have about getting in the air again.

A Honeymoon in Paris and Burgundy
A cancelled and rebooked (3 times) honeymoon is finally taking place!!! And in Paris! Yay! How wonderful is that?!
Big congratulations to Don and Carolyn on arriving in the romantic city of Paris, before their connoisseur Burgundy and Provence river cruise.
We had an interesting time making sure all entry and testing requirements were met, and even had to switch their cruise itinerary two weeks ago. So I was thrilled to have everything come together so I could VIP them with my @virtuosoltd partners.

Hungary Re-opens to Canadians and US
|

Great news I learned when meeting with a Virtuoso Travel Partner in Budapest. Hungary is now re-opened to Canadians and US.
So - the Danube river cruises are back for us to go!
Here is a communication follow up from the Hugarian Tourism Board.
Dear Sheila,
it has been lovely to meet you, here you are the communication about the entry rules:
Hungary opens its doors to travellers from outside the European Union, including US and Canadian travellers as Member States of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).
The move marks the first time the country has been open to travellers from the United States of America and Canada since March 2020 – a long-awaited moment in these challenging times.
As of August 7th, those non-EU travellers are able to enter Hungary by air and without any further restrictions
who are able to present a negative PCR certificate for a Covid-19 test in either in Hungarian or English.
In order to be valid, the PCR test must have been taken within 72 hours prior to arrival.
The following nationalities may enter the territory of Hungary with an immunity certificate issued by the government of Hungary, with an EU digital Covid certificate OR with a negative PCR certificate for a Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival:
a Member State of the European Union;
a candidate country for accession to the European Union;
a Member State of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD);
a Member State of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO);
the Russian Federation;
the People's Republic of China;
the United Arab Emirates; the Kingdom of Bahrain;
a Member State of the Cooperation Council for Turkic Language States (the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Uzbekistan);
or a country named in a decree from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and in agreement with the Minister of Public Security.
Hungary is considered as one of the safest countries in Europe, which not only benefits domestic tourism, but is expected to contribute to a boost in inbound tourism in the short term. If the epidemiological situation allows, international traffic will also steadily recover.
Currently, masks or the presentation of an immunity certificate are not required in accommodation, restaurants or tourist attractions.
We can’t wait to welcome your travellers back to Hungary.

Self-Tests - an example in Germany
|

One of the things I learned this week at Virtuoso Travel Week, in my virtual trade show with Virtuoso hoteliers, cruise lines, destination management companies, etc., from around the globe is that there are still vast differences we are all experiencing in terms of vaccines, testing, and lockdowns.
We've all had our own issues. Australia is in lockdown again. Argentina and Chile are still closed, etc. France has a vaccine passport of sorts that is required, and Germany is about to start that too. We have the province of Quebec introducing one, and Canada is about to require vaccines to travel on planes, trains, etc nationally (and requiring vaccines for all federal public servants.)
Here's an example of one difference. Here's a German colleague I met with during Virtuoso Travel Week on zoom - she's holding up a self-test kit. Germany's vaccine rates are similar to Canada's - they are doing well. But - they also test frequently, especially so family groups can meet with kids under 12.
You can buy a self-test kit of 5 tests in Germany pharmacies for 5 euros.
Sounds pretty good to me.
