A couple of months ago, I did a newsletter about "Greece is the Word" - playing off the wonderful movie "Greece," and promoting travel there. My client, Steve, loved that newsletter as a way of thinking about travel a little differently, and he shared with me that he and his wife Marcia often talked about "Time Travel” - using the phrase to refer to visiting places/people that today are accurate throwbacks to 50, 100 or more years ago. Steve suggested spots like New Guinea, central and
east Africa, even maybe Cuba. And, of course, I would suggest travelling back to simpler times should also include some great Canadian destinations like Newfoundland.
So, to honour Steve and Marcia's suggestion, here's a "Time Travel" idea. Let me know if you'd like to visit places and people that today are accurate throwbacks to 50, 100 or more years ago.
The pandemic has taught us that we longed for simpler times. Of course, there was a lot of bad during the past 18-20 months, but I've recently heard an interview with Kevin O'Leary (on Bill Maher) that it was projected that 15% of employees working from home wouldn't return to the office, and continue to work from a home office instead - so they could be with family, look after their kids, look after their elderly parents, set their own hours and still work
productively (and the pandemic has taught us we can do that.) Shark Tank's O'Leary said in the 30+ companies he is running, he's seeing that 55% of his employees are choosing not to return to work in an office. They'll still work. They'll just work from home. O'Leary said one of his employees said he'd grown up on a farm, and he wants to live on a farm now - he'll still work for O'Leary, but work from there. The environment and the family life of a simpler time is more enjoyable that the office

Cruise Lines Vaccination Policies - Update Mixed Doses
|
News article: TORONTO — It was the boost that cruise lines needed to round out their recovery: the green light to accept passengers with mixed dose vaccines.
The news was made last month by the CDC, ahead of the Nov. 8 reopening of the U.S. border, which confirmed that people who’ve received doses of two different COVID-19 vaccines will now qualify as fully vaccinated. For the approximately four million Canadians who’ve received a mixed-dose combination, this was a game-changing policy that would finally enable them to cross borders and board cruise lines.
But not all cruise lines have come onboard and among those that are accepting mixed doses, there are slight variances to their policies. To help you keep track of these differences, we’ve rounded up a list of major cruise lines that are currently welcoming passengers with mixed-dose combinations. For the cruise lines not featured below, Travelweek either confirmed that they are not accepting mixed-dose passengers, or was not able to verify their mixed-dose
policy. Also note, many cruise lines are also requiring pre-departure testing. Please refer to each company website for the most up-to-date requirements.
