1. Tik Tok Trends - Are You a Coastal Grandmother
|
Lex Nicoleta coined the phrase “Coastal Grandmother” this year, and the trendy CG fashion style is now morphing into an aspirational lifestyle.
We love Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Reese Witherspoon, Oprah, Martha Stewart, and Anne Hathaway. Casual linens, white button downs, wine, lemons, farmers markets, and beach life has our heart. (And Diane Keaton's "Something Gotta Give" movie by Nancy Myers is often quoted as the spark for the idea by Lex Nicoleta.)
But the "Coastal Gran" inspiration continues with travel too, with a focus on making your own life as luxurious as you can. Healthy living and self care with a relaxed style.
The obvious west coast spots that come to mind for CG travel style are Vancouver and Malibu. I work with clients to customize their bucket list trips, and often sprinkle in higher end Virtuoso wellness properties (with great extras that I can include) at spots like the Fairmont Pan Pacific, Ranch Malibu, or Pelican Hill. Perhaps a self-drive holiday in a convertible along the fantastic Pacific Coast

Or pop over to Hawaii to see the sunsets at the Ritz-Carlton Maui Kapalua or get your self-care on in a big way at the Sensei Lana’i.

The Origins - Coastal Grandmother

Tik Tok influencer, Lex Nicoletta, apparently coined the phrase "Coastal Grandmother" earlier this year, and both the phrase and the fashion trend has taken off. https://www.tiktok.com/@lexnicoleta
I've spent some time watching Lex's videos on Tik Tok - and - I also rewatched the "Something's Gotta Give" movie last night. All because my friends at Shepherd's Fashions tuned me in to this new trend, and asked me to write about some possible "coastal grandmother" travel spots.
I'll admit, I had no idea what it was at first.
f you google "Coastal Grandmother" you will find hits on Diane Keaton and Anne Hathaway, and quickly realize there is nothing about the trend that requires you to be coastal or to be a grandmother. 😊
I quickly got a grown-up Annie Hall vibe on the style– or maybe the Grace and Frankie Netflix show (with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin). And, will quickly admit, that the style and vibe is one I love.
Especially when I re-watched the 2003 movie "Something's Gotta Give" movie last night with Diane Keaton, Jack Nicholson, and Keanu Reeves. It was fun, and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed a Nancy Myers film.
And I'd forgotten that I am a coastal gran - even if I'm not a grandmother or live on the coast. I love the water, the casual clothing, the white and the blues, and living your own life as luxuriously as you can - that's me! And, of course, I've owned a Tilley hat forever.

4. The Body Holiday in St. Lucia
|
I now have group rates for clients. I’ve now had to go directly through the hotel, rather than book as a package with Air Canada Vacations, etc. (in that case, would have had air, transfers and all inclusive hotel wrapped in), because ACV could not
get the solo room rates, and could not get the Virtuoso perks I get (as a Virtuoso travel advisor) if I book directly with the hotel.
Kindly note, I’ve had to move the dates to get a number of rooms available at the group rate (given limited availability in January). So, dates are now Jan.29-Feb.5.23. 7-nights.
