1. Private Sale - Lindblad Expeditions
Thank you
for being here on my travel newsletter. Every Sunday morning, you are receiving this travel newsletter packed with Upcoming Travel Events, Travel Tips, Travel Industry News, Where Next Ideas, and Exclusive Offers. I hope you find the weekly info interesting and useful,
And a reminder about the Exclusive Offers: As a result of my
preferred partnership with some of the top travel suppliers in the world, and my relationship with them, as well as my affiliation with Direct Travel, I often get access to exclusive and private sales with travel suppliers that cannot be advertised. A private sale means that I cannot share my weekly newsletter on social media, or pass along to folks who do receive my closed email list. But I can share the offers with you - and, if it's of interest to you, we can book you a bucket list holiday at
exclusive offer rates and dates.
This week, I am pleased to be able to share with you that I have another private sale. This week, my private sale is with Lindblad Expeditions.
Exciting news! I had a blast at the Toronto Adventure Show this weekend, sharing my passion for #expeditioncruising with @lindbladexp and @cara_matthew. Did you know Lindblad does expedition cruising on all 7 continents? From the Galapagos to Antarctica, there's no better way to see the world
than on an expedition ship with no fixed schedule.
Encounter a pod of dolphins? No problem. The ship stops, and you follow the dolphins. See some whales? No problem. The ship stops, and everyone goes up to the bridge where the naturalists pass around
binoculars, and tell you all about them.
If you love connecting with nature and wildlife, while valuing conservation and sustainability, then an expedition cruise is for you. Want to learn more? #AskSheila sheila@lushlife.ca
As a result of me being at the Toronto Adventure Show with my partner Cara Matthew from Lindblad, and another adventure colleague Tom Gehrels, I have a private and exclusive sale I can offer you, as a result of me flying down to Toronto to participate and work this show.
I love sharing my passion for expedition cruising, and being able to extend a special offer for you as my client.
This week, I'll combine the Lindblad Expeditions private sale in the body of my regular newsletter so you won't get double emails - but - kindly
note, this newsletter won't appear publicly anywhere.
Private and exclusive sales are fun to share with you, as my client - almost as fun and cool as it was to run into my client, Denise, at the Toronto show!
But I hope you enjoy access to my private sales. And, I hope the private sales especially encourage you to take some bucket list trips.
As you likely know, my main focus for my business is river cruising and expedition cruising. I also plan vacations for clients on small ship ocean cruising, and organize
and build customized and individualized travel itineraries for clients as a private trip (meaning it's just them) to spots like Australia and Africa.
The sale with Lindblad is for select dates and routes, and is
combinable with current sales. (And don't worry, for those that booked a Lindblad trip with me this week, I've already made sure your sailing is not on this private salepromo list.)
Here is the list of the first 107 sailings (scroll down to see Antarctica special list of another 26 sailings as well).
By region, an additional $500/person savings is available on these sailings:
Africa
Arctic
Australia
Baja California
Central America
Eastern Seaboard
Europe & British Isles
Indonesia & Papua New Guinea
Mediterranean
New Zealand, South Pacific, or Transatlantic
and
Special select 24/25 Antarctica, Patagonia, South Georgia, and Falkland Voyages (see below voyage chart)
Let me know if you'd like to schedule a consultation!
Remember, this exclusive and private sale I have gives $500/person off on the select dates and routes listed above, and is combinable with any current promos.
As always, dates and routes can be removed from a promo list.
Let me know if you'd like to take an expedition cruise with the 'best of class' expedition cruising company, Lindblad Expeditions!
Thanks Candace
Sampson and "What She Said" for terrific blog post about my Women's Wellness Cruise. I so appreciated your time, insights, and expertise in helping me spread the word about this river cruise group I've put together for October 2024.
Watch my podcast interview
with Candace at the link above. For more info: #AskSheilasheila@lushlife.ca (And thanks, too, Candace for noting:
"ON A PERSONAL NOTE, AND AS A SERENDIPITOUS COINCIDENCE, MY PARENTS EMBARKED ON A RIVER CRUISE WITH SHEILA A FEW YEARS BACK, AN EXPERIENCE THEY STILL REGARD AS THE PINNACLE OF TRAVEL EXCELLENCE.")
And - if you want to watch some of my appearance with Shepherd's Fashions recently, have a look at some of the fun I had last week visiting Shepherds fashions to participate in their travel tips workshop. See the full video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38FAmvIhuX4
Here's the ad in last Saturday's Ottawa Citizen (which also appears digitally in PostMedia newspapers across the
country).
I also appeared onDaytime Ottawa. Here's my interview on "Daytime Ottawa" TV talking with Derek Fage about this terrific cruise.
Just remember, there are three steps to Embrace “Your Grace”:
STEP 1.) STEP ON UP - savour, sip,
self-care
STEP 2.) STEP ONBOARDyour moving boutique hotel room
STEP 3.) STEP ONSHOREto cities and towns along the Danube River
Let me know if you'd like to secure your spot. (And yes, there are some husbands coming. At least 3 are booked thus far!)
This will be a 7-night Danube River cruise, that sets sail from Budapest on Oct. 4, 2024, and heads to Nuremberg, before finishing its voyage with 2 nights in Prague on Oct. 13, 2024. program): https://tinyulr.com/LushWellCruise
May I also suggest you treat yourself to a makeup consultation with Leslie-Anne Barrett at Bruno Racine Salon.
I came home with wonderful tips and tricks, a diagram of what to do, and a bag of product.
Leslie-Anne gave me great ideas for a 5 minute "zhu xing" and a
terrific prescription for an easy peasy skin-care regime.
Whether you want basic make-up advice, skin-care tips, a post-Covid update, or a makeup update to go with a new hair style or coloring, Leslie-Anne will get you sorted.
She's an Ottawa treasure, always full of life and energy, and a bottle of sunshine.
And stay tuned, we are planning a travel, styling, and makeup little soirée at the salon on March 25th from 5-7 pm.
This week, I was helping out at the @scenic.luxurycruisestours river cruise presentations in #Ottawa. I love sharing my expertise on river cruising with clients - especially new to river cruise clients.
I have access to some in-person show offers for both the 5* Scenic, and their 4* sister
company Emerald, until the end of February. Let me know if you might want to travel with one of these companies, and we can schedule a consultation to review your needs and interests, and I can leverage my relationship with these companies to have access to their offers for you.
I have taken many river cruises over the years on different rivers
(e.g., Danube, Rhine, Rhone, Amazon, etc.), and I have travelled with many different river cruise partners (Tauck, Uniworld, AMA, International Expeditions, etc.), but I haven't had the opportunity to travel with Scenic just yet. So I am excited that I will be travelling with Scenic in April for my first river cruise experience with them. I've been working with Scenic for years, and have put many happy clients onboard their ships. So, I can't wait to experience them in person.
Let me know if you’d like to take a river cruise with Scenic! #AskSheila sheila@lushlife.ca

5. Wellness Travel Corner - The Importance of Sleep
As you may recall, I work with clients on wellness travel trips. I hadn't realized this was an area of focus for my business until I won an award from Virtuoso about wellness travel. And, when I dug into it a bit more, realized that the healthy living and self-care sorts of trips I book for folks that are soft adventure and river or expedition cruising really does blend into the wellness travel sector.
In part of my journey as a wellness travel advisor, I also look for ways to improve healthy living and self-care wherever I am. And the importance of sleep is something that I've been paying a bit more attention to lately. How about you?
You might remember I was interviewed by
Jason Osler of CBC Radio a while back about sleep tourism and vacations that enabled you to go away to hit the hay. See https://lushlife.ca/going-away-to-hit-the-hay/
I just flew to Toronto to participate in the Toronto Adventure show - and as I was reviewing news sites, I was intrigued by this story about Cillian Murphy of the movie Oppenheimer. https://ew.com/cillian-murphy-head-glued-oppenheimer-8599240 and https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/oppenheimer-star-cillian-murphy-smashed-021740905.htmlAnd yes, it's sad that he
cut his head open, fortunately it was fixed up easily - but the movie star had co-star Emily Blunt worrying about his sleep, and a : "special pillow was gifted to help him get a good night’s sleep. ....I just felt [what] Cillian needed, even more than food, was sleep on this movie,” Blunt said. “So I got him this very beautiful pillow that I’m obsessed with … it’s a Hästens pillow."
I'm always on the lookout for new ideas and tips. So, it was a funny coincidence to be chatting with my travel
partner and friend, Cara Matthew, of Lindblad as we were working the Toronto Adventure show. Cara told me about a book she'd just started reading, and was really enjoying it. Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreamshttps://www.amazon.com/Why-We-Sleep-Unlocking-Dreams/dp/1501144316. We chatted about how you are either born a morning bird, or a night owl. Cara recommended I read it.
The opening overview about the book reads:
"Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life—eating, drinking, and reproducing—the purpose of sleep remained elusive."
I was intrigued. I now have the book on order.
Tell me - how do you ensure you are getting a good quality sleep? Do you have special pillows or beds or routines? Enquiring minds want to know.
Share a tip with me - I will grab some for future newsletters, and if I include your tip, I'll send you a $5 Tim Horton's gift card.
