Saturday morning, I returned from a one
week Explora Journeys cruise from Istanbul to Athens. And it was an amazing cruise.
The itinerary was fantastic - we visited Istanbul, Bodrum, Rhodes, Amorgus, and Paros. But it was the ship that blew me away.
Explora Journeys is the new player in the luxury cruise world. I sailed on the Explora I launched last year. They launched the Explora II sister ship last week, and Explora has plans for Explora III, IV, V, and VI over the next couple of years.
There is so much space on the Explora I ship I just
sailed on. Walk in closets and huge showers. Wonderful balconies with tables and chairs, and lounge chaise.
Pools and whirlpools, spas (12 treatment rooms) and gyms (including outdoor exercise equipment).
And huge public areas including the lobby bar, shopping areas including Rolex and Piaget.
Wonderful dining, including 3 restaurants that require reservations (Marble Steakhouse, Sakura Asian food, and their Chef's Table), but 3 others that do not (Emporium Marketplace, Med Yacht House, and FIL
Rouge). Plus great public spaces to sit and watch the views including Crema Cafe, and Explora Lounge.
The Emporium Marketplace is a buffet style set up, but everything is behind glass, and you are served according to your wants - and then plates carried to your table.
There's everything offered from Fitness Classes to Whisky and Cigars classes to afternoon high tea to "Name That Tune" evening trivia to karaoke to evening entertainment in several venues.
